Here it is folks! 2nd Annual Strongman for MS is going to be held on Saturday August 22nd at Naturally Fit PEI. 220 Water Street Parkway.
Events are as follows:
Event 1: Overhead Press Medley. Athletes will in turn press various implements, various weights, tag team style. More weight=more points. This will be a 3 minute time max. Weights will range from 140 lbs to 300 lbs. Implements will vary from olympic bar, steel logs, stones.
Event 2: Farmers walk medley. Same idea. Different weights, tag team. More weight=more points. 100 lbs per hand up to 250 lbs per han
Event 3: Stone lift. 10 stones to choose from. Ranging from 200 lbs to 400 lbs. These will be placed onto 36" barrels. One lift, next atlete tagged in, has choice of stone. More weight=more points per lift. These will be a mix of atlas stones and field stones.
Event 4: Transfer Truck pull. Harness on lead man and remaining 3 men will help pull the truck 100 feet for time.
Event 5: Team tug of war!

This is a charitable event, so all monies collected will be donated to the MS Society. Please be advised there is no prize money for attending this event. There will be medals and all athletes will be treated well throughout the days' events! Last year was a HUGE success and we hope to top that BIG TIME this year!
Any questions or if you're interested in putting a team together, or would like to add your name to a list where we can make teams, please email jay@nfpei.ca
Hope some will make it!

Is there any gyms or anywhere I can train strongman in/around the Dartmouth N.S. area?

16 and wanting to get serious into strongman training, just need to find the right hook-ups.

Hey alex good luck with the knee. I was going to have that done with mine in 2001 and didn't , And my knees are finaly 100%only took 7 years. But what I did find is the more blood you get to them the better. This = Tire drags. walk backwards draggind a light tire and keep adding weight the longer the pulls the better and lots of sets. ask anyone who has done these with me they are the best thing for putting blood on the knees.

Hey guys well I finally got my knee scoped today! Everything looked pretty good in it. Only took 2 yrs for an appointment. Hopefully this will keep it from swelling up on me. I have actually been doing some gym training the last 2 months!! haha...trying to get my ass in shape for once......I am still looking for sponsors for the lightweight show and as soon as I get something I'll get more info. Looking more like June or so for a date. I'll keep you updated. Too bad you can't keep up the web site Grant after this year, it will be a big loss if nobody picks it up!!!

Guest Grant wrote: Monday, February 2, 2009 - 7:15 PM

Jay you will know when we know, There has been a early list posted on the message board. Other than that we are just tring to light a fire under us just to want to put this on again, But I will say this is the last year for ACSA. It is coming to an end after this season. If someone is interested in taking it over they can but I just think I am done with the whole thing. The guest book is paid for 2 years so that will still be there but that is it. The website will end October 1st 2009.
