Any ideas on the events J?

Guest Jason Mosher wrote: Friday, March 13, 2009 - 6:06 PM

Hey guys,
I just had a change of date, as of today on the Peakes Strongman. It will be held on June 27th, Saturday, instead of July 1st. This will allow us to not have such a press for time and we will be the main event for launching the weeklong festival.
Keith, I have you down brother.

Alright, so nothing in Yarmouth. Anyone know if there's anyone in the area with a reasonable gym that would allow gear? Or anyone that might be doing some strongman training?

As far as I know there is nothing in yarmouth except fish. I think PEI is the only place doing that as of right now.

Guest Anonymous wrote: Friday, March 6, 2009 - 1:20 PM

Grant, I was wondering if there are any amateur or junior competitions in the area this summer? Or do you know of anything down around Yarmouth?

Guest Danny Sutherland wrote: Thursday, March 5, 2009 - 3:34 PM

So it look like the show up here in sydney will be a go but it looks like the date will be moved to sometime in late may early june i`ll have to talk with the people interested to see what works best with them. There seems to be a ton of interest up here and within 2 days we got a couple sponsers and the CBRM and the Sydney downtown chamber of commerce helping us so hopefully we can draw a good crowd and have good turn out of competitors i should have a exact date by the end of next week

Guest Framer wrote: Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - 11:32 AM

When, where, how many days. YOu haven't called me either. haha

Guest Danny Sutherland wrote: Monday, March 2, 2009 - 3:12 PM

As of right now i'm just putting this out there to see if there would be enough interest but i'm playing with the idea of putting on a competition up here in Sydney probably on the last Saturday of April. Grant and Terry have both expressed interest including myself i would like to have about 3 -5 more people say that they could do it. i have talked to a few of you guys about getting some equipment made were i'm in a metal fabrication class up here and i talked to the teacher and he thinks he can get the school to donate the steel for the equipment which will be used in the comp. and then me able to sell to you guys at real cheap price if anyone is interested but there is still lots to think about right now i'm just looking for interest from people at the moment. So try and get back to me on here within the next week or so if you are interested. Thanks

Here it is folks! 2nd Annual Strongman for MS is going to be held on Saturday August 22nd at Naturally Fit PEI. 220 Water Street Parkway.
Events are as follows:
Event 1: Overhead Press Medley. Athletes will in turn press various implements, various weights, tag team style. More weight=more points. This will be a 3 minute time max. Weights will range from 140 lbs to 300 lbs. Implements will vary from olympic bar, steel logs, stones.
Event 2: Farmers walk medley. Same idea. Different weights, tag team. More weight=more points. 100 lbs per hand up to 250 lbs per han
Event 3: Stone lift. 10 stones to choose from. Ranging from 200 lbs to 400 lbs. These will be placed onto 36" barrels. One lift, next atlete tagged in, has choice of stone. More weight=more points per lift. These will be a mix of atlas stones and field stones.
Event 4: Transfer Truck pull. Harness on lead man and remaining 3 men will help pull the truck 100 feet for time.
Event 5: Team tug of war!

This is a charitable event, so all monies collected will be donated to the MS Society. Please be advised there is no prize money for attending this event. There will be medals and all athletes will be treated well throughout the days' events! Last year was a HUGE success and we hope to top that BIG TIME this year!
Any questions or if you're interested in putting a team together, or would like to add your name to a list where we can make teams, please email jay@nfpei.ca
Hope some will make it!

Is there any gyms or anywhere I can train strongman in/around the Dartmouth N.S. area?
