Grant, is the car deadlift your frame?

Guest Grant wrote: Sunday, March 22, 2009 - 12:11 PM

The date and place stand!!!!!! Plain and simple. We were going to hold the Atlantics here but the Association was handed a kick in the A@ss a couple of weeks ago because of the losses we took in the Canada wide show. And for that reason Crystal has to pay $10,000 out of our pocket. We will NOT host another show.

As far as Jason M show. Yes it would be a great venue, but he is always rushed for time and this is a 2 day competition. I have great faith in this promoter and I feel that It will be a Great show. If not than Like I said we will look at something else. for 2010. , As far as Middelton? no venue. Middelton was a really good show at one time but is no more. I think that B-Water would also be a good venue, but again,We have one.

Danny as far as Dates I did NOT know the dates of your games untill Terry was here the other day and told me. The Date was going to be April 26th but got bumped to june.

And Like I said before This is My last year with this Association and I am looking to pass this on, and I feel I will be able to do just that this way. Last year the events didn't make sence, the year bfor I was rigging it ,and so on and so on. Now It is the Dates and place , It will always be something and that is why I hate this crap and want out. Before the association ,people herd of a show and went, no issues. Now I think Athletes have been spoon fed to much and may it needs to go back the way it was. At least for me, I love this sport but hate the crap the comes with Promoting.

Now I under stand that we can't make everyone happy But It cannot be in July because on conflicting dates of other shows and such. and later in june is out and eariler in june is no good we looked at everything we could and this is the only 2 days that will work. As far as May- well gear is being built and that all takes time and money.

We could always hold it next weeknd here with no money or prizes? How may would we get then?

Just an idea or suggestion, but Mosher's contest would be an excellent place for the Atlantics its the following weekend and he is very experienced in putting on great contest's and best of all he has no ties to any competitors......

Guest Framer wrote: Saturday, March 21, 2009 - 11:13 PM

and as far as the only date that will work, did the association look into other venurs, example: PEI, Bridgewater, Middleton?

Guest Framer wrote: Saturday, March 21, 2009 - 11:10 PM

Considering I was told, by this board, that the National qualifier was going to be in July, and as you and I discussed in Middleton in January, I said that would work for I had HIghland Games nationals June 20 and 21. How can I make a change on my end with something that has been locked in for eight months, while the date for Sydney has been six days. Where did the July dates go? Am I saying I am above everybody and it should be changed on my account, no. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Hey alex The platforms are the same as last year except the first one will be 4 '' lower. I felt it was to high for Troys friend that he brought. I don't want to turn anything into a big man comp and not a strongman comp. so they will be 64'' 63'' 60'' 56'' 48'' last year the first one was 68.5''.

Glad to hear you are competiting this year.

Hey guys the date for my comps this year are Thusday July 30th for the JR show and Saturday,August 1st for the open show.

The dates for the Atlantics are not great for me either its right in the middle of Silage season on the farm. Earlier or later would be better but oh well I guess we will just have to see what the weather is then.

Well here it is guys the date place and events for the 2009 Atlantics.

Before I begin everyone must understand that these are set in stone and the date and events will NOT be changed. We are working to place the Atlantics in the hands of another promoter, IF things go well this year it will be our last year to over see the Atlantics. IF 2009 goes well and the promoter does a good gob , I think that the will, it will be left in their hands. Unless they decided not to do It for some reason it will come back to us here to do. Or WE would then set up another promoter.

the 2009 Atlantics are in Sydney Cape Breton on June 20th and 21st. Rain or shine.
This is the only date that will work.
day 1
Harness truck pull
Farmers walk
Axel press
Atlas stones

Day 2
Frame carry
Log press
Car DL
Med

All info on events will be posted tonight on the web site. Any questions can be sent here admin@ac-strongman.com

Is there some sort of governing body for the acsa? what about the annual atlantics contest? Who is in charge of setting it up/Choosing events and all that?
